VISI ANAK BANGSA AWARD



Visi Anak Bangsa Award is a grant in a form of production subsidy that is given to selected creative groups of the young generation. This program is not only meant to give funding for production but also to encourage the grantee to learn how to explore their work process from brainstorming to rendering their work to make it economically valuable and enjoyable for the general public. Furthermore, this program is also intended to increase the creativity and innovation of Indonesian young generation in the effort of developing cultural industry of the future. The idea to create the future’s cultural industry obviously needs a great amount of budget, therefore Yayasan Visi Anak Bangsa still opens an opportunity for any interest party to support the Visi Anak Bangsa Award program. After a series of observation and selection process, Visi Anak Bangsa has chosen Studio KasatMata as the winner of Visi Anak Bangsa Award 2003. They are valued to be an example of a group from the young generation who is gifted with creative and innovative ideas, and has produced several short 3D animation films. The amount of subsidy granted to studiokasatmata is approximately 150 million Rupiahs! This fund is going to be used by studiokasatmata to make the first 3D animation movie in Indonesia.

A BRIEF STORY OF studiokasatmata


 


‘Kasat Mata’ means ‘appears’ or ‘visible’ and studiokasatmata intends to make invisible things or virtual and abstract imaginations to be something visual, visible and vivid. The desire that took shapes in ideas, imagination and fantasy was configured to become a brilliant initiative that resulted in the form of animated works. The animation of Indonesian youths who never leave their cultural identity behind. This creativity emerges from a group of youngsters who comes from Yogyakarta. They named themselves studiokasatmata. Started from exploring their own skills of manifesting their wild imaginations on paper, it was then continued to be realized in animation. The young animators have succeeded in building their dreams to come true, and they are:

"DUBBING PROCESS AND OST FILM “HOMELAND”

The dubbing process of animation film named “Homeland”, which is produced by studiokasatmata, the winner of Visi Anak Bangsa Award 2003, have already completed. The dubbing process was hold in Yogyakarta on 17th until 21st September 2003. The main character is Bumi, a 14 years old boy who is looking for his loosing father, played by a local dubber from Jogjakarta. Another character played by some popular artists that we have known, such as Tika Panggabean, Yossi, Udjo (Project Pop), and Enno Lerian. Tika Panggabean played as Simione, a big female hippotamus who leads Trinity community. Yossi played as Jimmo, a confident dog that can singing and he has so many fans. Dantes, a ghost who wants to be a director in Trinity community played by Udjo. Enno Lerian played as Sherene, a beautiful 16 years old girl and a friend of Bumi. Other dubbers were local dubbers from Yogyakarta. They played each character expressively, so the animation characters can be more alive.

If you are eager to know more about this film, be prepared for its launching on January 2004.
